Comment: Hello all I am using desktop computer in the office (inside a domain). Because I want to check the network card in my laptop computer, I connect laptop computer with the desktop computer to ping them using crossover cable. I change the name of desktop computer and change domain to workgroup and change TCP/IP value for the LAN so that two computer can connect. However after changing and restart, I cannot login with the username and password that I am using. I do not want to call the administrator Could you please help Thank you

Reply: (edit)Before you changed it all, you were loging in to the domain, not that computer. Now you have changed it, your user name and password cannot be verified by the domain and therefore you cannot log on. You now need to log on to the local machine, but you would probably need the local administrators password to do that. Im afraid you will have to go begging to your admin. Good luck ChrisE

Reply: (edit)You may really be stuck. Generally, domain and workgroup comptuers can co-exist, but have a hard time talking to each other. And changing them back and forth is both difficult and asking for BIG trouble.
