If wireless, go into the router's configuration utility using any web browser and change the wireless channel, as someone else near your location may be using the same channel as the one you're currently using, and that can cause drop outs for the person with the weaker signal.
You may have to try several channels (there are eleven of them to choose from) to get over the problem.
