Comment: After setting up a netgear router for my desktop ( XP) and a wireless card to my notebook (ME), I was able to get internet connection on both. I set up my LAN with the wizard on the desktop, and tried many different ways to set up the same on my notebook ( with diskette and without) I still can not access my network. the Notebook tells me " No domain server ....." at startup and then when I click on the icon for the desktop, it tells me Desktop Not accessible. My desktop just shows the icons for the workgroup computers but does not allow me to access the notebook with a similar message. Please help

Reply: (edit)Is your ME machine setup as part of a domain? You would only get that error message if it was setup for a domain.

Reply: (edit)it sounds to me like your notebook is looking for a domain (server) to gain an ip address from, right click my computer go to the settings where it states your computer name and make sure that the workgroup option is checked and not hte domina. You may also want to check the settings of your network card, does both machines use NetBuei as XP does not have it installed whereas ME does, you may just need to setup IP address (unique) for each, windwos states to obtain an ip address automatically by default which could cause many problems. let me know how it goes Lapz
