Can I use router for printer only?

This may be a dumb question and if so, I apologize. I just purchased a Brother HL-2170W printer that's advertised with "wireless networking." I use a Verizon USB modem for my internet service and it can't be used with a router (per Verizon). I have a Linksys Wireless B Broadband Router model BEFW11S4 that I purchased it when I was planning to use a different ISP. I'm wondering if I can somehow use this router to enable me to put my printer in another room and print from my computer.
I've tried to load the router software, but since it can't connect to the internet through the router, it says it's not configured. If I only want to use it for the printer, is there a way around this?
Again, my apologies if this is a ridiculous question.
