can i connect cable modem to wireless

Specs: Windows 7
i need help before buy it... i have cisco 2100 cable moden and 2701 hg-b 2wire router wireless. i connected bout my laptop say dsl moden fail...... its any other way to set up the router...?

How are your components connected together?
It should be:
Laptop --> (wireless) Router (WAN) --> (LAN) Modem (CABLE-IN)

ok thanks i have all connected like ..... CABLE INTERNET ===> CABLE MODEM===> WIRELESS ROUTER====>TO PC..... THEN I TRY TO CONNECT my laptop n shows its connected.. i open to google page n shows dsl moden fail....? its any other way to connected....?

Is this the only connection from the laptop to the modem, or is there another connection like USB, directly to the modem?

THANKS... YES I TRY CONNECTED DIRECT MODEM TO LAPTOP N SAY DSL MODEM FAIL .... THIS ROUTER HAS 4 PORTS OF LOCAL INTERNET N 1 FOR DSL.... I HAVE CABLE MODEM.......

Ok, so you must not connect both.
How must you authenticate to your ISP?
Are you given a username and password, to authenticate at your ISP?
