I have a Linksys WRT54GS that I network three hard wired computers and an Xbox. I connect notebooks wirelessly. But as my ever growing collection of computers increases, I want to add more systems to the network. Currently, I have to keep switching cables on a port of the Linksys.
I also have a Netgear 4 port hub, model DS104. I was wondering if I could connect my iMac, Ubuntu system, and my Xbox to the hub, then connect the hub to one of the ports of the Linksys? If I have specific instructions on how to do this, or a link to a site that shows how, that would be great!

Thanks,

Yes you can connect a hub to a router. To do this you would connect a patch cable (straigt thru) between a port on the router and port 4 of the netgear hub. Then you woul push the "Normal/Uplink" button on the hub in.
The Normal/Uplink push button on the front panel of the hub allows you to
select the Uplink (MDI) or Normal (MDI-X) position for port 4 on the Model
DS104 hub, port 6 on the Model DS106 hub, port 8 on the Model DS108 hub,
and port 16 on the Model DS116 hub. All other ports are wired Normal for
direct connection to PCs.

So would the computers that are behind the hub as well as behind the router more secure than the ones just behind the router.

Or would there not be any difference?
