Are you able to connect any other device to the internet with that router?

Have you tried a wired connection to it with ethernet cable, does that work?

Have you tried other devices? Cell Phone, etc.
Trying a wired connection to the router (as above) will prove that the router is properly connected to the internet and other parts of it are functioning properly so you can concentrate on the Wifi part as the only problem. Trying another device will prove that the Wifi is working and you have the password (Log in really) correct.
Note: the most frustrating thing is to have something minor overlooked like your caps lock is on or you forget to capitalize one letter, so carefully review your log in.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

You can do a factory reset by holding in the button in the small whole on the back beside your ac adapter for 10-30 seconds with a paper clip while it is plugged in to the wall. If you bought it used the user name and password could have been changed. This will erase all the previous user's settings, even the firmware updates. If then it doesn't work leave the spaces blank, sometimes that is the case. Default usually is (admin, admin) or (admin, password).

I don't need to be right, but I am never wrong.

I do not know that a reset of the router is necessary at this stage, but the manual is downloadable from the mfg's website and it will show the reset and default log-in or where to find it on the machine.

There may be an IP setup manually on computer that you are trying to connect to the router. Check the IPV4 address and if there is any IP choose the Obtain IP Address Automatically from the option. This may help.
