CAL's Confusion

Specs: Server 2k8 Enterprise, Intel
I've been reading on CAL's for a while now and am getting more confused by the minute. My first question is Which "server softwares" require a CAL? Just to clarify I'm talking about just 2k8 server, not exchange, SQL etc.

Bigger picture: I'm purchasing a new 2k8 server this solo server will handle all things network related, AD, DNS, DHCP, file server; for approx. 200 users on XP Pro machines. One of my sales guys says that the standard 5 CAL's with Server enterprise is all that I need, a second salesman tells me I need one per hardware client or one per user. I hope that's enough info, if not I'll be checking back frequently and can add anything that is necessary.

First sales guy didn't know what he was talking about.

You need a 2008 server license and a workstation [user or device] cal for every device or user accessing that server.

Go to the horses mouth ie. and look up licensing.
