About 2 weeks ago I lost my shared cable internet connection. Mac and IP addresses, DNS and DHCP servers, etc. had changed and kept changing.

After 2 weeks of reading forums, searching for info and trying numerous "fixes", I called my cable internet provider. My modem was not showing up at their end, so they came out, on a Saturday night!

The "cable guy" happened to glance at my TV reception and asked if it was always like that. Yes, it was. He then checked the cable lines and discovered that the line from the box, in the backyard, to the house was not carrying the siganl properly!

He replaced that line. Cable internet connection is back on and as a bonus, TV reception is much clearer!

Moral of story....CALL YOUR ISP!!!
