Comment: Just a question. Say I listen to an online radio station using a normal PC, and the radio station sends MP3 encoded stereo music through the Internet and to a company network to my computer. The source of the music comes from a CD and would be compressed at a ratio of 8:1. Say the computer is an IBM PC with a 100 Mbps Ethernet interface and a 100MHz 32-bit PCI bus, and I use Media Player. Also: . buffer size of the network card in the user's computer is 16 bytes . one bus cycle is required to send an interrupt from the NIC to the CPU . two bus cycles are required to send each group of four bytes (32 bits) . one bus cycle is required to send an interrupt from the CPU to the sound card - How much company network capacity would be consumed by me while listening to music? - What percentage of available bus cycles on my computer would be consumed while listening?
