have two computers and im gonna order Cable internet

so wats the best way to go, so i can have both comps run the cable ??

get a cable modem---hub---comps1+2

or

cable modem--switch--comps1+2

or

does the hub act like a modem, and thats all i need

Your best bet, since you have to spend some $ anyhow, is to get a highspeed internet router (cable/DSL router) Get one with 4 or more ports and you'll be up and sharing in no time flat...as well as protected if you get one that has NAT and firewall technology built in.

Dont know what your isp will be but mine is blueyonder. I have 2 pcs linked via a crossover cable, and use ME's internet sharing feature. You will need two network cards in the machine with the direct access and one in the other. BNC cable will work perfect but when I updated the XP the old ISA card stopped working, and XP don't support BNC. So a CAT5 crossover cable might be best depending what you wish to do in the future. And both wires should cost you £1 per metre in the UK.

One last thing if your isp is blueyonder/telewest makesure you only have one network card in when they come.
