Cable only uses 4 wires!

Ethernet networking cable only uses 4 wires, 8 are available, then is it possible to make two links out of each cable??

there are 4 pair of wires and all 4 pairs are used so no you cant make two links out of them

Yes you can, but it is more trouble than its worth. The are some devices that use the extra pairs for power. A version of 10BT100 uses all 4 pairs. You can run telephone on the there other pairs. You have to split the signals out before they enter any other device that cannot handle them.

for short distance, why not if this is the only thing you have. The cooper Gbit uses 8 wires(I think, not sure), and Cisco Voice over IP phones use 8 because it feeds the power with the other wires.

in theory it is possible and in a tight situation and you have no choice, yes you can do it, but..(you know there has to be a -but-) Long term it just isn't reliable, anything traveling over the wire will degrade fast either to noise or natural interferance/basic wiring hurdles. Voice traffic is tolerable, but faxes and data can be corrupt. It's just a cable run. Just my experience (and 2 cents) over the past ten years.
