Now recently I've had a huge problem with my modem. I have a cable modem that had always run fine, and then one day the connection light just blinks out, and after spending about 20 minutes of rebooting it and my computer I get it to stay on, but the internet becomes very sluggish, and messaging software becomes very unresponsive and takes awhile to log in, and any games are virtually unplayable due to lag, even though my download speed is as quick as it's ever been.

I usually run through a router, but the problem came up on both other computers on the network. Then I tried running the modem straight into my computer with no luck. The problem still persists, and I've been on the phone with tech support at least 3-4 times. They have had me replace the wire, and even get a new modem, and the problem is still there. I was just curiouse if anyone had any idea what was wrong or how I could fix it, as it had been working fine up until the modem going crazy, and even with a new modem is still won't work just to my computer, and it's even worse through my router..

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but it's the closest I could find to my problem. Thanks in advance!

First of all, I used to have cable modem and router. I also had that kind of trouble.

I had the guy come over and checked. It turned out to be my network card. After replacing, it worked okay....

but then I switched cable modem to dsl eventually due to the fact that they can't fix my wire. I was told that the wire in the house is not good. The guy is not responsible for the house wire. That's why i had to switch. Now I am very happy with my dsl.

I remember my cable modem time, first two months were stable, then found out bad wire in the house. I was so upset. I waited for so long and finally verizon dsl is available....
