How are you all doing?

i have a cable isp and i bought all the stuff to hook up a PS2 online. i have my ethernet cord being hooked up directly to my cable modem. this is my problem if i have used my computer there is something caled a mac lock and it sets it to the computer. then when i want to use my ps2 online most ppl can just disconnect their power cord from their modem then it clears the lock. (unless you have a router.)

however i unplugged my modem for 30 minutes and tried it with my ps2 and it didnt work....so now everytime i wanna use my ps2 i have to call my isp and they clear it for me then it works. and if i wanna use my puter after i have used my ps2 i have to do the same thing!!!
this is very annoying and i was wondering if anyone could help me with this. it is very annoying.
so is there any tricks or something else out there to clear the lock? id rther not get a router but i guess i will have to if i cant clear it without calling in.

any help is appreciated,

gooday.

You can't do any thing about the isp's modem. You can connect a netgear or other brand router and connect both the ps2 and your computer. Mac lock only effects the router not your equipment.

It just depends on how the ISP's local router/controller is set up. Some drop the lock quickly, some take up to an hour, some only once a day, and others require them to manually reset it.

For the cost of a low cost router on sell (with built in inbound firewall) you can just avoid the hassle, hook up either or both when you want to and you get the advantage of the extra firewall. Plus you can expand to four connections if you ever have a need. Like hooking up a visitors laptop with Lan connection. Or plan ahead and get a four port router with wi-fi support for later use.
