Specs: Windows XP, ?

My cable internet has recently stopped working. When both of my computers are plugged into the wireless router (linksys) they receive an extremely low internet signal. Both computers are sending and receiving around 5000 packets, much lower than its normal rate. Internet pages will not load when connected this way. However, whenever i run the connection directly from the modem to one of my computers I am able to access the internet. Through this connection, I am sending/receiving around 50,000 packets, still much lower than it should be. I have called the Cable company and they had be run tracer and speed tests and they are showing an average speed (6500kb download speed and 480 kb upload speed). Although the speeds are normal, my internet connection is still much slower than normal. I tried installing a different router and that didnt work either. Could the modem be the problem? I figured it would be ok since it ran on direct connection.

I have tried running ipconfig release/renew and that hasnt worked. I have also checked for viruses and none were detected. Any help is appreciated. thanks.

when was the last time you ran disk cleanup and defragged the drives?

What are the results when you do a speed test from pc to dslreports or other broadband test site?

'tis the season to be of good cheer. Wishing one and all happy times with family and friends.
