I run a small hybrid ssmall business network: 2 NT4 workstations, a RedHat 6.2 server and a Mandrake 7.2 workstation, with both the Linux boxes running SAMBA.

I have found that for so9me reason, I now can't browse the network from Network Neighbourhood, although the computers can print to the network printer (on the RedHat box), and can open files on other workstations (existing shares or links). Every computer can ping every other computer, and the Mandrake Worstation, using GnoSamba, can browse and see the entire network.

I can also create a share from an NT box using the net use command.

What's going wrong? Am I having a browse master conflict?

As long as everything else is working, I wouldn't worry so much. The browser service is a desaster.
I have in my smb.conf
os level = 36
local master = yes
preferred master = yes

This works fine, even I have a NT server as well. You can find out about the Master browser with browmon.exe from the NT Res Kit.

Funny, the samba is considered to be a windows NT 4.2 server in the Network neighborhood.
