Hello guys.

I have a 16Mb/s Broadband connection and according to my ISP, I receive about 12Mb/s. When I download a file (100mb) I get a download speed of about 1.2Mb/s which would seem fine.

But when I do a speed test (even the one run but my ISP) I only get a D/L speed of 6Mb/s.

Why is this, and how can I get a TRUE download speed reading?

Thanks

Matt

according to your connection 16Megabit/second, without any overhead, you should be getting around 1.9Megabyte download speed

true download speed readings is kinda hard to tell, it can depend on many factors such as the server load, speed, status of your current connection, etc..

Many "speedtests" have to small files. its done befor your connection at a high level. so you get wrong dl-stats.
