i have 6 computers on a network connected to a broadband modem. one computer receives emails and another holds the files. if u turn on a computer, sometimes u cant access the network drive but if u restart it u can. Can someone help me?

How are they connected to the modem, router and switch? Are any of those machines servers? If so, what OS and how are the drives shared?

they are connected by router. no servers. windows xp files shared through network cable
