Bridge Wireless router to another house

Specs: Windows XP, amd/1024
Ok I am looking to bridge my dlink router to a house down the street, not far at all, only like 6 house links away.

I found awhile back a kit for this for only $50, and now I can't find it at all no matter how much I search. It was a small black box on a pole and connected into my cat network straight from cable. Came with it's own onboard software for grabbing the wireless signal. It wasn't an omni directional grabber, it was more of a point and shoot signal in it's path I think.

Now I found something like it here:

But I don't know if that's going to do what I want, or if there is a cheaper solution that will work since it's not a long stretch away, and there is even line of sight for the most part since my place is kitty corner to the other place down the street.

I am also planning on upgrading the antenna on my dlink to this or something similar:

And popping it right up outside the window or inside it right at it.

Is there something else I need to do and will this work fine? What are your thoughts? I don't need much distance really, but it's just over the distance for cat, plus the tel company and cable company in this area laughed at me when I asked to string cat over their poles.

So I need to do this point-to-point connection to get my network and the internet at this other place. It is our school and I can't get internet there any other way.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Is this across a street or entirely on private property? What is the distance? What is the bandwidth required?

Both properties are mine that's not an issue. It is kitty corner down the same street about 6 houses, normal house size lots, small homes. Think of it this way, I'm on the corner lot, this house is down that street on the oposite side about 6 houses.

Feet I don't know off the top of my head, each house is appox. 30x40' and the lots the same.

So it is in eye shot. Bandwidth I require what ever I have at my house, I require at my school. The 3 computers on the network there are used for basic web browsing, I have a 1.5 connection at home to my home network and a dlink g router, brand new. I have 3 computers connected to this router and one wireless netbook that connects every once in awhile. I want to be able to get good internet at the school, 512 if nothing else, since no downloading is done, only basic web browsing.

From there I want to be able to run things like VNC and SSH over my network for control over the 3 school computers that are there. So there has to be basic network speed of 10 to be able to run these things correctly without having to go down there to work on them when need be.
