Hello,
Is there any way to boot a floppy drive with USB in dos? I've tried to use the drive on my laptop with DOS 6.22 and even DosPrompt, but it won't reconize my external USB floppy. The floppy drive is only reconized in Win98. I just need to know incase I run into any problems in the future.
Also is there a way to do file transfers from one pc to another with jut a simple parallel 2-Male cable?

I don't think you can use USB in DOS. I know the first version of Windows95 didn't even support USB. I know a later version of Win95 did and all versions from 98 up do. For your serial connection your going to need a null-modem cable. It works like a cross over cable in that it has the send and recieve wires switched on one end. Check your local computer store for one.

Hullo,
To just clarify your first question. No. USB isn't legacy, therefore unsupported by DOS. You're lucky if you can even get a USB keyboard to work in dos correctly..For parallel transfers, use LapLink Pro or similar. E-mail direct for a good util. It's only DOS based, but does work through Windows. Uses serial, parallel, modem, network, etc..
If you do end up stuck, get yourself a bootable CD made. They're easy to do with software like Nero Burning ROM. Set up a floppy to boot DOS and load your CD drivers, and in the second partition, you can put the Windows CABs or the like.
Hope this helped!
