I have 2 RTL8029(AS)based cards .. I cannot make connection using their BNC connectors with win98. Everything works fine between one RTL8029 installed under win XP where I can specify the BNC connection and some windbone based card under win98. The problem is that under win 98 I cannot choice the BNC and probbably win98 opens the TP !!!??? I'm using original drivers .. ... is there some kind of solution .. please help me ..

I suggest you upgrade your drivers, and If need be configure the cards using the dos program.

I'm in the middle of my own problems right now or I'd email you with this. Hope you're checking back for replies. You need a file called rset8029.exe (not rset8019 or rset8039, they're for other Realtek chips). Go to http://www.realtek.com.tw/htm/download/default.htm
click on Communications Network ICs, then under Ethernet NIC 10M select 8029(AS) and complete download. This will get you a zip file. Save it to an empty directory and unzip it there and you'll have rset8029.exe .
Run it under Dos after cold booting to a command prompt--either hit F8 when you first see "Starting Windows (insert version here) and select "safe mode command prompt only" or put the Realtek file on a boot floppy that doens't load any drivers.
When you run it it'll offer some choices, the first is "view current configuration" or similar words (I'm remembering both rset8029 and rset8019, and they're a trifle different interface wise).
If the mode isn't 10base2 or Auto, hit escape, then arrow key down to change config and set it on 10base2 or, if you might be using it with cat5 anytime soon, set it to auto. Use the esc key to back out and confirm that you want to save the changes.
Good luck, email me if you need further help.

I have the same problem.
On one computer with NE2000 compatible card installed Windows 98 (further concrete as WIN98), on other with RTL8029 installed Windows 2000 (WIN2000). Computers are connected via BNC. On Win98 NE2000 card configured with its config.exe in Dos and in WIN98 I specify the same IRQ and address as in config.exe. Under Win2000 I specify BNC and this comp sends packages but no reply from Win98 comp.
