Iam trying to connect two comps: Comp#1:win ME, connected to cable modem (surf board),ASOUND NIC
comp#2: win 98, SMC NIC
I am using SMC 5 port Switch EZ6505TX.
The home networking wizard on the comp#2 passed. The comp#1 after same wizard failed. I got blue screen which says: An exception has accured at 0028:FF05AE01 in VxD uhcd(01)+000036C1. This was called from 0028:C16454C4 in VxD RMM(01)+00000254. It may be possible to continue normally. Press any key to continue. When i hit on space, it goes to other blue screen: Win Protection error. You need to restart your computer. System halted.I was unable to restart it in normal mode. I restart the comp in safe mode and couldn't see My network places icon, in My computer folder now are two floppy drive icons (i have only one floppy drive), can't see the Zip drive folder. and so on, every thing is a mess. then i restore the system to the previous settings.
Please, help me to connect this comps together.
P.S. I am not experienced in networking, this is my first networking job. Thanks for any help.

Hi, Luis. Thanks for responding to my message. The answer on Your question is no, I didn't. There are too many softwares on the HD, but in last 10 days i added nothing, but the home network wizard, which actualy came with Win ME OS.

This is one thing you can do. Reinstall but only with the bare necessities. DO NOT run the install with ANY SCSI or other PCI cards in the system. Not even NIC's. It sounds like you might have a hardware issue.

Good luck
