my problem is...i m using LAN and to use proxy server , i used some C programs to open some port on a remote PC of the OS and system type is mentioned. well the ports opened..the thing is..now i want to close those port and i cant reboot those remote PCs.
to give u proper idea..what i m doing right now..
lets say : my computer ( say ) :A
remote PC :B
proxy Server :C
u can say why i m not using directly those proxy server...its bcz the proxy server refuses connection from my computer ( A ).
so what i m doing is..
the connection goes like this..
A<-------->B<--------> C.
and in computer B , i have opened those ports which listens to my computer...
so please help me to close those ports.
thanx in advance.
nitin

it needs root acess to modify iptable...and as far as i think...thr shudnt be any entry in the iptables..bcz just i m opening one port with one program...which wont run as soon as the machine reboots...n then too ..to open port i dont need root acess...then is thr no way to close it or to redirect it to some other address..
thanx

For what you want to do , you need root access.
