block getting ip from 2003 DHCP server

April 8, 2011 at 13:34:56
Specs: Windows XP
I'm using 2003 server for DHCP settings. I don't want some computers to get ip address automatically but if they put manually ip address, it's ok, they can connect.

How it can be done?
I mean when those computers try to connect for wireless, they should not get any ip address (so internet) until they put manually ip address, default gateway and dns server.

Can't be done with dhcp

You would have to some how block dhcp before it gets to the wireless AP before you could set this up as you desire.

The real problem though is in your understanding of security.

If you are only concerning about putting in the ip address this means you are not using wireless encryption. This means you have a open hackable network.

I would kindly suggest you use the encryption passphrase as the way to block getting a ip address wirelessly. They don't put in the correct passphrase they don't get a ip or network access.

Answers are only as good as the information you provide.
