Hey, I'm having a bit of a problem with my network. currently I have 2 computers that are hooked into the network through a wirelss router. one of the computers(well call compA) is mainling from the router to the computer wheres compB is from the wireless conection. now all I want to do is be able to share a wireless printer which is mainlined with a usb to compB so that compA can use the printer and also have the computers able to communicate (see) with each other.

I have tried installing the printer drivers on both computers. installing all the services for the connection. even sharing the whole hard drive on both computers but nothing works. heres the part that ticks me off. i can see my computer in the workgroup file for compA and compB buts its only the comp that i'm using.
I dont get how this can be if were both on the same network(the default: WORKGROUP)

the printers an hpdeskjet 5850 shared under the name "hpdeskje"

any help is greatly apperciated.

try changing the workgroup to something new.

after that so start> setting > printer and fax .

right hand mouse click on the print on compb and click sharing. the printer should now be cupped by a hand.

On computer A view the computer double click so that you can see the shares and double click on the printer, if it is there it should be working.

Edwilson's idea has merit.

The default "workgroup" and "MSHOME" seem to have built in problems.

I've changed them to other names on several occasions and th problems disappeared.

Very strange, but true.

Since the printer is shared already, have you checked who has permission to access the printer? Sharing will not necessarily allow anyone to use it, you have to add the user or computer as an authorized user. You may also need to add an exception to the windows Firewall to allow access to the computer with the printer.

Also verify this printer can be set up to be shared. Though rare, we had an HP laserjet that was not designed to be shared, nor was it supposed to be, per HP. Don't remember the model, since we replaced it once we found that out...

Installing the printer driver is not exactly the same as adding a printer. It could be that is the holdup. You probably have done this, but if not, it needs to be done and just may solve your problem.
