I have two wireless adapters, one card, one usb.Im trying to connect to my friends wireless network next door, but the speed im getting is rather slow.
Is it possible to bind two wireless connections so the connection speed is faster?(
-either by manually entering ip adress for an adapter? -third party software -adjusting protocols

No. First, having 2 wireless networking devices in such close proximity, without some good shielding and filtering in place, almost guarantees that you'll suffer ill affects from interference between the devices, even if they are at separate ends of the 802.11 wireless spectrum. All transmitters produce low-level broadband RF and unless you do some extensive shielding and filtering, they will affect each other to a degree. If your link margin doesn't have much headroom, this will have detremental affects on your links.

Second, your neighbor's Internet connection is probably the "bottleneck", NOT the available bandwidth over your 802.11 wireless link. If you are seeing unexpected low data throughput, it's surely due to poor link quality between your wireless device and his access point. You can increase your link margin by doing any of the following:

- re-positioning his access point and/or your wireless device

- use higher gain antennas

- use amplification

I'd go with the first or second options myself since it's considerably more expensive to opt for the third one. Hope that helps.

As a side note, most Internet Service Providers have a written policy against the unauthorized sharing of their services with other parties. Just a word of caution!

By the way, I apologize for blindly assuming that you were doing this for the purpose of accessing his Internet connection! After posting my response and then re-reading your post, I can see that my conclusion regarding your purpose, was unfounded. Anyway, good luck with it!
