hello i will be going on the road with my laptop and will be connecting to the net with wifi at truck stops and places i will be delivering cargo what do i need to do to make my laptop secure is there any settings with the wifi card i need to make i just got the laptop and wifi card i have done all the widows updates and set winxp home fire wall to on and i've installed a antivirus software and updated it as well

I'd say you're good to go. Just be careful not to submit credit card info or other important credentials on a foreign hotspot--you never know what kind of monitoring/redirection setups are in place.
