I have a Dell 1150 with built in centrino wi-fi, i installed a belkin F5D7230-4 wireless router to my cable modem. The wireless router has a hardline going to my desktop pc, and a hardline going to my modem. I'm using WinXP on my labtop and i can usually get a signal to my labtop if im very close (within 5 ft or so) but then it will just disconnect randomly. When i open up my wireless network properties when it IS connected it says "Not Connected" or "Automatic", i removed the firewall to no avail. When i go upstairs in my house (approx 40ft from router) i get no signal at all. The Desktop pc thats running on the hardline from the router works perfectly fine. Has anyone had this problem or know of a possible solution?

Try changing the channel on your router. I had the same issue with linksys router and Dell laptop after the channel has been changed it seemed to work fine.
