Belkin Wired Connection

February 14, 2010 at 01:21:17
Specs: Windows XP
I was able to connect a PC with Win Vista to a Belkin N+ wired router. Although connection is made, the PC cannot browse interent through the Router gateway. It appears that no packet can be received from the router. In addition, I changed the connection of the PC with the router by using wireless. Internet can be browsed successfully with this setup. It can be concluded that the problem was not caused by WAN setup of the router.
Please assist.

Connect wirelessly and open a command prompt window (Start >> Run >> type cmd and hit Enter) and run the following command:

ipconfig /all

and copy the output to a text file (ie: notepad/wordpad) and then connect the PC with a network cable and do the same. Then put the results of both in a response here indicating which is which and we'll have a look.

I suspect your wired NIC is configured incorrectly, this will let us look and see.

In addition to what Curt R stated, only one network card should be connected at a time.
So if you would like to use wired connection, disable the wireless network card.
