computers now shown on network but cant access files. file sharing is enabled and the error message says : "\\tom is not accessible. you might not have permission to access this network resource. contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The network path was not found"
please help. it is a real pest as the whole point of these usb wireless networking was ease to install. and ideas? please help

im runing the same, but this only happens when the netowrk path does not exsist. like is i share a folder and then delet it its share still shows up in "My Netwokr Place"

you guys are running wireless networks? if so do you know that people can just randomly connect to your network.. look at Netstumbler. good times :)

hey silly man. i dont quite get what you mean. there is a computer on the network called tom so the files are there but they just cant be accessed the network is called mshome (the default name) and everything is set up fine.
plus i live in the middle of a 1 acre plot. both my neighbors are over 60. i have firewalls and wot do i care if someone can see my files. they are all backed up and there arent many techies around where i live. beleive me

john, you can also restrict access by defining what MAC addresses can connect + you can apply encryption.
I know everything is hackable but I think it is pretty save when you have a firewall added to that.
