I have a Belkin G plus router I borrowed from a relative but it doesn't include a networking cable. But I have 2 extra networking cables. So everything is all connected but when I reached the last part of the installation, it says the internet account is not accepted and that I have to call Belkin. Does the networking cable have to be compatible with the router? or should I just buy another one?

I doubt very much if it is the cable that is at fault. Providing it is a Cat5 patch cable then one is much as good as another.
The error message suggests the the router still has the Internet credential for the person you borrowed the router of and you need to enter your credentials for the line that you are connected to.
