Dear All;

Is there anyone knows how to create a batch file on my condition?

I have a ADSL internet connection and sometimes my ISP will autodisconnect me and I had to ipconfig/release then ipconfig/renew to get back my internet connection.

Is it possible for someone here to do me a batch file that can assist me in the following condition:

ping www.yahoo.com ;if no packet received/no response

ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew

then the process repeat again from above.

Is this possible? Thanks.

Regards
Chris Foo

I could script that on UNIX but my batchfile skill aren't that good. However, a site member, Mechanix2Go is a master of the batchfile. Message him through the message feature if he doesn't reply directly to this and he'll be able to help you if anyone can.

You really don't need a batch file. You need to diagnose the break in communication.

You are renewing a dhcp ip lease with your ipconfig commands. This does not indicate the isp is disconnecting you. More likely you have winsock corruption or spyware saturating the link.

Start by doing a ipconfig /all and note the date and time of the dhcp ip lease. Does your being disconnected coincide with with the expiration date and time?

Next time you are "disconnected" go to a cmd prompt and ping your ip address. Ping the gateway address. Then ping the dns servers. Where does ping fail?

Imagine the power of knowing how to internet search

Dear Wanderer;

No. The disconnection does not coincide with the lease expires. I am certain it will not be a spyware issues. But not sure if it is WinSock. I am using an ADSL modem.
My computer directly connect to the internet. Which gateway should I ping?
