Hello all,
i'm going to receive a satellite connection with 2mb in down and 1mb in upload. I will use a 802.11b router to give access to my building. We are 50 residents. Does it mean that the bandwidth of my satelite connection will be divided by the number of users connected?

Shared - yes, divided - no.
Here is an example. If two users are downloading at the same time they *could* each use 1MB or any combination that equals the 2MB (e.g. 1.5MB & .5MB). The actual bandwidth each user gets will depend on several factors. They could even use less than the 2MB if the source they are downloading from cannot provide data at that speed.
Also, the speed you get from your carrier is not always consistent, so you could get less or more at times.
Your real issue is what is going to be the usage. If you have one person downloading large files or if many people are using the connection concurrently, you will have some issues.

thanks a lot guys! Michael, i understand what you mean, thanks. Basically, the users will have access for home usage, so emails, videos, downloading, and so on...
Tonyshare, what do you mean by static connection? my sattelite connection will be a dedicated one.

a static connection guarentees 2 MBps at all times. like michael said:

a dynamic connection will fluctuate but a static connection will be at 2 MBps at all times. good luck
