I'm having some real problems with tcp/ip on my computer. I hope someone here can offer some thing to try and fix this, because otherwise I fear i will have to fully reinstall my OS. Sorry for the length of the post but I think it's necessary that I include all of the information.
I've been saerching the past few days for NAT software so that I could share a connection with my 3 home computers (Linux, Windows, and a Windows as the gateway).
Someone suggest Winroute, so I gave that a try. After winroute engine would run for about 15-30 minutes, suddenly all of my TCP connections would abruptly drop on server machine, and I would be unable to start new ones unless I stopped the engine. UDP and ICMP still worked when this occured. I consulted with their tech support, but in the end he had no more ideas and I decided to search for new software. So I tried Sygate Home Network. It worked wonderfully for 2 hours, and then problems started showing up.
Anytime I would go to a webpage, it would immediately get 'Page not displayed" until I refreshed it or clicked on the link 5-10 more times. And anytime I would try to do other TCP operations like telnet, for instance telnet'ing to ebay.com 80, i would immediately get 'unable to open conenction to ebay.com' until I tried this 5 or more times. Graphics are no longer appearing on websites, and it has become extremely hard to browse them as well. I've even tried stopping and UNINSTALLING the sygate software, but the problem STILL persists!

I'm almost positive now that this has something to do with TCP/IP on my computer and not any of the software. I don't know what to do about it though. I've tried removing the TCP/IP binded to my dial-up adapter and re-adding it in the Network area in control panel as I read somewhere, but that hasn't helped either.

If anyone can provide any type of help or at least take a guess at what the problem could be and how to fix it, It would really help.

Thanks in advance.

Are you only having problems with the one computer? are you able to ping websites? try
C:>ping tv.com and see what you get...I would maybe run this program called show traffic, it can tell you what kinds of packets are be generated on your LAN. Something else could be messing up your LAN.

Show Traffic 1.2

Hi,

Yes I can ping out fine. I can also DNS. ICMP and UDP seem to be working perfectly. I ran a packet sniffer earlier today to verify this. The tcp packets aren't being sent at all whenever the problem occurs.
The odd thing is, it seems to just happen randomly.. there doesn't seem to be an specific pattern or anything like that. I click on a link though, and immediately get the "Page not displayed" error in IE and no packets are sent whenever I have the sniffer running.

No im not brian.

I believe i've found out what the culprit was. It appears that both of those applications didn't like the fact that ZoneAlarm was running.. After removing ZoneAlarm, the problem ended (as far as I can tell). It's a disappointment though, because I liked ZoneAlarm quite a bit.

Thanks for the help
