I have two pcs on the same network. Both are running xp home. On on computer i have a bunch of shared folders which are password protected. On the second pc i have to type in the password in order to open the shared folders. The second pc auto logs me in to the shares from then on, until i restart the computer. My question, is there a way to have the second pc auto login every time?

Are you using mapped drives? If so just put a check in the box "Reconnect at logon".

No, i get to them by using network neighbor hood. I have alot of network drives so it would be impracticle to map them all.

If I'm understanding you correctly you will want to have a password and login after a reboot at least once or that would defeat the purpose of having security, unless its mapped or the users have the correct permissions. Just curious why do you have so many networked drives, from your post you said that you only have two computers? For example just set up permissions that only user A or user A and B can have access to the C drive or whatever and then you can map a drive to it and "Reconnect at Logon". This way only the user A or B from the login at the computer start up screen will be able to have access to the mapped drives or to that share in the workgroup or domain. You are logging into a workgroup or domain? Like I said before if I'm not understanding you correctly, sorry.

On my 1st pc i have a bunch of media files, games, documents, etc. It is running xp home and all those files/folders aer shared so that i can access them from pc 2. PC 1 is running xp home, so to get password protection i hade to tyweak the registry and add a password to the guest account. Now when any one tried to asscess the shares they have to login as "guest" with the right password. So on pc 2, the first time i try to access a shared folder i have to type in "guest" and the password. Then it saves it until i reboot. The problem is, after i reboot and try to run a program like windows media palyer, it tells me it can't find the file. I have to then go and open up network neighborhood, open on of the shares type in a password, close that, go back to media player and then it works fine... until i reboot again. So i need a way to save the password even after a reboot.
