Ok just a quick idea that i think may turn out to be more trouble then its worth.

I have set up a VNC server on my PC at home so that when im at work i can log in and monitor my downloads, email, amongst other things.

Now, because i don't have a static IP address it does occasionally change. What i would like to do is run some kind of script or program that looks at the IP address everyday and emails it to me at work. So when i get to work and want to log in its sitting right there.

Now here is my setup from me to the internet:

My PC ->
Netgear WGR614 V4 Router ->
Speedtouch 530 (ADSL Modem)->
Internet.

No i already have set up port forwarding etc.

So any ideas with this email thing?

BTW why is it such a hassle just to get the email address out of these damn speedtouch 530 modems?

www.No-ip.com has what your looking for. Although it doesn't email it gives you a domain name like jordan.no-ip.com and uses a client to update the ip anytime it would change.

Yes, go with no-ip.com.

Perhaps it's because there is no email address in the modem. The modem doesn't know what email address or addresses you use, nor does it care.

I understand, we've all been there. But, some of the questions people ask show how much they misunderstand what they *think* they know.

I use no-ip and it works fantastic. You'll never need to know your IP address again! Instead you will just use thenameyoupick.no-ip.com to point to your router. If you have any questions in setting it up, just send me a private message

I designed some software called RAH IP Monitor this will email you your IP address on change, execute a program on change i.e. no-ip.exe and close after x number of mins and it also allows you to upload a web page with your own IP address on.download it from http://www.rahsoftware.co.uk
