assigning ip address for Active Directory

Specs: Windows server2008
i installed windows server 2008.later i tried to install active directory but i got an error that u didnt configure ip address but i assigned static ip address and preffered dns also.
why am i getting an error ?
when i give a command ipconfig in command prompt am not getting the ip address???

tell us how you gave the server a static ip

right click on local area connection click properties selected ipv4 and clicked on properties and i gave ip address as 10.0.0.1 and prefered ip address as 10.0.0.1

prefered DNS SERVER ip address as 10.0.0.1

OK that sounds fine.

any errors concerning services not starting?
event viewer errors?
can you ping 127.0.0.1?
can you ping 10.0.0.1?
