hi
I have Apache2 set up behind a router and no one outside my LAN can access it. forwarding to port 80 fixed the problem where no one could view it outside my LAN when using my ‘external’ IP and my no-IP address (allows dynamic ip uses to have a fixed address) , but for some reason i cant get anyone on my LAN to view my Apache pages, all they receive is my "btvoyager240 ADSL router config manager" page, understandably this is not a good thing.

So using http://localhost (when on the 'server' machine) or using this PC's IP only shows the apache test page, not the custom index page which is viewed from outsiders. (Which is confusing in itself, as it shouldn’t be able to locate the apache test page it should be showing the custom index page.)

Using: 127.0.0.1, on the server pc does display the page however understandably this does not work on the LAN PCs.
The only way i can get the LAN to 'see' the pages hosted by apache is by entering the server’s local IP (192.168.1.2.)
Anyone have any ideas how I can get LAN PCs to see the pages – preferably by the no-IP address? And as a side note why when the apache test page is being shown when it is replaced by the custom index page?.
thanks again

Chez

The only way you can view the website is by making the browser on the client machine use a proxy server because inbound requests for port 80 will bring the router config page and not be forwarded to the local ip.

A site for free http proxy's are here, though I haven't tested any -http://www.proxy4free.com/page1.html

If in the router config page you have the option to change the default port that the web interface uses do this and that will sort it.

Make sure the index file is a .htm and the apache test one shouldn't load, if it does try deleting it.
