Hi All,

Hope someone can help me with this.

My girlfriend has got AOL Broadband. I had a belkin F5D7230-4 router lying around.

SHe has been using her broadband without any problems with a BT Voyager 190 modem router that AOL Supplied.

Becuase i had this belkin router lying around, i thought i'd try and hook it up so she use her laptop wirelessly...

I know someone will tell me i need a different type of router (An ADSL Wireless Router) but becuase i had this one knocking around i wanted to see if i could get it to work.

It would be working as 2 routers i suppose, but i'm not sure 100% what i need to do.

Connection currently goes as follows:

LAPTOP(OR MY PC, DEPENDS WHO IS USING THE NET)
¦WIRED TO¦
BT VOYAGER 190 ADSL
¦WIRED TO¦
TELEPHONE LINE

We have to use the aol software to get online.

Is there anyway of making it so it goes something like this:

MY PC <> LAPTOP
¦WIRED TO¦ <> ¦WIRELESS TO¦
BELKIN F5D7230
¦WIRED TO¦
¦BT VOYAGER 190 ADSL¦
¦WIRED TO¦
¦TELEPHONE LINE¦

I assume i would still have to connect using the aol software though, unless anyone has any smart ideas around that as well lol.

Thanks
Jon

No reason why that shouldn't work but it is AOL you may have the problem with AOL.

AOL gets very persnickety when two people try to connect using the same account. AOL tends to do things differently than the rest of the world.

None if it's Belkin. AOL Broadband is way too proprietary! Click on the Check to see if your router or adapter is supported link in the article below:

You're right when you wrote AOL gets very persnickety when two people try to connect using the same account. FYI AOL gets even more persnickety when two people try to connect at the same time using ANY one of the six accounts you are allowed to create under your Master Account (your billing account).

Actaully the modem/router authenticates the main AOL user account, therefore just use IE instead.

SPORDER.DLL ERROR WITH AOL CONNECTION
Hi
Sporder.dll is a file related to TCP/IP. This issue is normally faced with people having AOL connections and the file which gets damaged is AOL dailer.exe.. So the Solution for this would be to uninstall AOL Software( as it is caused by an AOL update ) and in other cases reset Winsock and TCP/IP and restart the computer and it will work.
