Out of the blue, my folder icons ( disks etc.) in Network Neighborhood changed from "NET" looking icons to other icons like: disk drive, CD, folder icons but the names stay the same.
The disks, folders, etc. are now in "Unknown" instead of its Computer Name. They can be opened, etc. from this system and appear normal (by name, icon, contents etc.) from other workgroup systems. Search finds computer and folders etc. by Computer name but it won't list this way in NetHood.
If you're wondering, I thought "My Network Places" was a bit lame so I renamed it months ago.
Everything runs fine, intranet, network and internet. It just happened recently and the only problem ( again ) is the changing of the icons and not listing the proper computer name (now Unknown) on this system only and in Network Neighborhood and NetHood.
Let me know what you think. Sparingly for time I've checked numerous settings, registry entries, windows sites, with no real solution.
My next step is to remove all this computers shortcuts in Network Neighborhood and then add them back. I might have tried this but they were added to Unknown. I haven't looked back yet.
Maybe someone has seen this before. as it seems rare.

Thanks in advance.
