Subject: any good wifi setup utilities?
OS: xp pro
CPU/Ram: 1800+/768mb
Model/Manufacturer: home made
Comment:

everyone i know including me, always has problems getting wifi to connect. It only works seamless about half the time. Windows zero sucks, does anyone know of a very stable freeware utility to set up wifi. My computer sometimes never wants to connect to my router, and often never wants to connect even in ad-hoc mode with my buddies computers. I am sick of these problems, im sure its just because wifi is still relitivly new, perhaps vista will better support it when its done. but i would like it to work seamlessly now.

What card? The manufacturer should have utilities to cover ALL of that - D-Link, Linksys, Netgear, etc. do.

Get a real card, from a real company, with really good software - DLink, Netgear, Linksys....

I was pointing out that just because you think it is so does not make it so. No need to be offended unless you choose to be.

What is the model of your Inexq card? You might find some help here:

http://www.inexq.com/web1/english/download/search.asp

Just select the model from the list. If you can't find that it has it's own configuration utility, then reply back what chipset it is. It should say on the page.

Speaking of WL Cards. I have a card thats giving lots of trouble.
An Asus WL138G, under XP works fine. However the computer that uses this card Is running Win2000. Under 2000 the card doesn't work. If tried drivers, software, changing slots, 3rd party drivers... Nothing.
The card simply refuses to see the routers.

I'm gessing thats win2000 problem because under winXP the card works great.
Any idias? Others than removing 2000 from the machine. :P

Thanks

I'm just a shadow of my former self!

Why don't you just let windows itself handle the wifi connection?

cause windows doesnt have many settings you can change, for example you cannot setup a peer to peer connection using strictly windows zero, you have to have a computer running a diffrent utility start the network then have the one with windows zero detect it.
