Hello every1!! :D
OK...I've tried many port scanners before, but they always tell me either 25 and 110, 21, and all those commons on ALL computers I scan...once I came across one called "AATools", and I tought it worked, until I accidentally changed the Port Set settings and it messed up!! and then I changed to different sets and it gives me different ports!! :@
Hmm...here are the options for Port Set:

None
None
None
Everything
Trojan
Proxy Ports
NFS
HFS
None
None
None

All the None's give me 1080 and 53, Everything gives me ALL ports, NFS and HFS give me like 20 (different) ports, and Trojan gives me some other ports...
Which one should I trust?? or should I just get another one?? :)
Thanx!! ;)

ShieldsUp is a toy.

El-Trucha, try Nmap. It's much more flexible and powerful than the ones you've tried.

I searched google but all I found was paid, shareware, and non-working stuff!! :P
And I was gonna try Nmap, but the GUI is for Linux and the Windows version is command-line, so I grabbed NMapWin...
This is the command NMapWin uses on Nmap:

CMD: nmap -sS -PT -PI -p 1-100 -O -T 3 google.com

It returns this:

Starting nmap V. 3.00 ( www.insecure.org/nmap )
Note: Host seems down. If it is really up, but blocking our ping probes, try -P0
Nmap run completed -- 1 IP address (0 hosts up) scanned in 60 seconds

What's wrong??!! Google can't be down!! :P
(and it isnt kuz I pinged it with the ping command...)
I also tried a friend's IP and it tells me the same thing...but I can ping it!! :|
Again, what's wrong??!! :(
Thanx every1!! ;)

Use the -P0 (that's a zero, not an oh) switch like it recommended. That will force nmap to scan regardless of whether it thinks the host is up or not.

Have you read the documentation? Nmap requires WinPcap to be installed, and it doesn't work out-of-the-box on XPsp2. There may be some other caveats - I don't use it on Windows, so wouldn't know what they are. Nmap is extensively documented. I would suggest starting there.

"Also, how do u know which ports its scanning?"
You already answered your own question. the -p switch specifies the port/ports/port range to scan. In the example you gave previously, nmap is scanning ports 1 through 100.

One other thing...port scanning is considered hostile behavior by some people. You might want to avoid scanning hosts at random (such as Google).

I find it extremely amusing that you've tried so many port scanners, can't get nmap to work with a minimum of effort, and are now looking for another one to try. Could the problem possibly be that you haven't bothered to learn how to properly use any of them?

Well...I've read the documentation for all of them and none say anything about the options they give me...I even went to the Search function in the CHM file looking for the option name and it gave me nothing!! :(
But anyways, I got Nmap to work in a Win2k machine...now I need 2 know which option 2 use, but the documentation doesnt say anything about them!! :(
Thanx!! ;)

I don't know about the Windows version, but the man page is here. It lists all the options and how to use them.

Of course, it also helps to know what you want to accomplish when choosing which options to use. What are you trying to do?
