Disconnect from the Internet. Disable your firewall because you wont need it then do your data transfer.

Although if you data got corrupted it is very unlikely to be the firewall at fault.

Re-enable your firewall and reconnect to the Internet when done. Dead easy.

Windows firewall or a router firewall?

In either case, you should be able to disable it and do the transfer.

You say 15gig. Are files as large as 4gig or better? If file systems are fat32 the largest file is 4gig.

Give a person a fish, they eat for a day. Suggest they internet search and they learn a skill for a lifetime.

If the Windows Firewall is corrupted then you need to reinstall the Operating System.

Windows Firewall is an integral part of th Operating System and if that is corrupted you can bet your life something else is and it will give to constant problems.
