am a new buy , by profession a doctor, and can be considered as a illiterate in networking am having a problem, i connect my laptop to my pc using a dlink modem, by cable, i used to share folders and exchange data in between them by typing like this \\192.168.1.3\public
public being the shared folder on my laptop and 192.168.1.3 being my laptop ip adress
but suddenly am unable to do this, and when i try, i get an error message like this
"\\192.168.1.3\public is not accesible. you MIGHT NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO USE THIS NETWORK RESOURCE. CONTACT THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THIS SERVER TO FID OT IF U HAVE ACCESS PERMISSIONS. THE NETWORK LOCATION CANNOT BE REACHED "
can any one please kindly help me how to solve this issue

i forgot to give one information , am able to ping the ip adress in the command prompt, but unable to share files

NECESSARY: Do the Users at both pc and notebook have a password?

no the dektop has no password, but lapto has
