Is it normal to keep getting kicked out for high ping in an online game like counterstrike 2d when I have 44kbytes/sec(bytes not bits) download speed?

I would contact the games hosts, they would have an answer to that question.

44kbytes/sec is slow, very slow, probably far to slow to even consider playing an on-line game. You are probably getting timed out as you are left behind by the other players.

As a rough guide 44kbytes/sec is equivalent to 440 kbits/sec. Broadband speeds these days are measure in mega bits, not kilo bits.

Well I would believe you and I would just let the matter rest if this same game didn't work on my 4kbytes/sec dial up connection without ever causing kick-out for high ping, but funnily enough, it does(strange for a connection speed with a download speed 10 times slower than the speed which is "slow, very slow, probably far to slow to even consider playing an on-line game" huh?).

I'm not familiar with counterstrike but most modern FPS games require a faster connection than dialup.

Well this one doesn't(the term 2d should be enough to know that). So please just tell me if the ping route and all that crap is alone enough to cause the ping to become tens of times higher than it should be(yes_or_no is all I am asking for)
