I have a wireless connection, but I am doing it for convenience sake not to set a network of computers. My cable outlet is no where near my PC, and I already had an Airport Extreme base station.
I went out and bought a Linksys 802.11g wireless network adapter for my PC, and they communicate. The problem that I am having is that I can only get a connection by enabling the Linksys network, and that connection is extremely slow (1-2 Mbps). If I could use the Apple network I feel that it would have a faster connection.
How do I achieve this? Any advice? I have downloaded the Airport software, but it cannot detect my base station (probably because I am not using an Airport card.)
Is there anyway to either have my PC use the Apple Network listed, or boost the speed of the linksys network?

It matters very little what your Local Area Network speed is, the cable is the determining factor and you may have neighbors using the cable for internet use at the same time as you are which downgrades the cable throughput capacity. Your Linksys and Airport Extreme speeds are LAN speeds, not internet. Hope this helps.
