AIM frequent Disconnect

I have a cable internet connection split among two computers with a router (Netgear Wgr614 v4). When i sign onto AIM, everything works, but it will randomly disconnect me (after 2-3 hours) and reconnect immediately. I have a feeling that it is a router setting issue because both computers experience the same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
