Comment:

We currently have CAT5 UTP patch cable connecting the computer to our router ran through our house for networking. Recently we've had to move a computer in one of the rooms and the cable will no longer reach it.

I'm guessing to add another cable to cover the distance I need:
1 - RJ45 Coupler
1 - Another CAT5 UTP patch cable, just like the one that is currently ran

Is this correct? Do I need a specific type of RJ45 coupler, as in, do they make crossover/straight thru couplers?

Thanks.

You can get plenty of these RJ45 couplers from eBay. Most of them say "for patch cable" on them anyway.

The maximum length for Cat5 cable is 100 m (approx 380 ft). Couplers are cheap and can be purchased at most any computer store (I wouldn't bother with ebay for a coupler).

You don't need any special kind as you're using a straight through cable.
