Reply: (edit)You need a router, a hub can not be used to connect to an external Modem and then split the connection to various PC's....

Reply: (edit)I think TECHNICALLY it is possible to set that up, but I have found nowhere any discussions on how this might be possible (to share a cable/dsl connection using a dumb hub) - In theory the way it would work is that you would have to install special software on each client that acts as a serverless network that has a server. I have found discussions asking whether or not it is possible, but a router is probably a much better option (more stable - I've found that my router's DHCP server is much better than that of Windows ICS). Someone probably could write software that would split a connection, but it would be insanely difficult.

Reply: (edit)isn't it possible to connect one computer to the internet, and then connecting that one and all other computers to the hub. the internet sharing can be done with xp, or winroute. i have only done it with two computers, one being connected to internet on one network card and then on another network card it was connected to the other computer.
