Yesterday I have bought myself a Netgear MA101 USB Wireless Adapter for my laptop (doesnt have PCMCIA). I connected it and all lights are nicely lit up. In my PocketPC (Fujitsu Pocket Loox 600) I have a Pretec CF 802.11b card and I want to use ad-hoc ICS from my laptop (connected to broadband cable) to my PocketPC.

I have installed the drivers for XP and it detects it nicely. In my systray I see the Windows "Network not found" incon and that one of NetGear.

Problem 1) My Configuration Utility only shows the tabs Status & About and not the configuration tabs as shown in the manual.

I enter the Network Configuration of Windows and goto Wireless Configuration and choose under Advanced, that I want to connect "Ad Hoc Only" (I dont have an Access Point anyways). After this, I create a new "test" network, Open, no WEP and see in the Netgear Status Window: test network Ad-Hoc 802.11 connected.

Now, when I open my PocketPC and set 192.168.0.2 as the IP, and select Ad Hoc 802.11 (not just Ad Hoc), then I see my status light blinking (normally a sign that there's NO connection!) and it displays as status "connected to test" on Channel 10, but I can not get outside 192.168.0.1 (laptop)! However, when I choose Ad Hoc, my status led is ON (normally a sign that its connected) but then it displays as Status: Disconnected and I cant even ping my laptop!

Problem 2) See description above

What am I doing wrong? I've configured ICS with no firewall on my laptop, checked Channel which is 10 as well, I can see the SSID under Active Wireless Networks and apparently can connect (because when I try and configure the PocketPC as 192.168.0.1 I get conflict of IP address).

The card can also be used as PCMCIA (through a PCMCIA->CF slot) and I usually use that Pretec card as a WLAN card for my 2nd laptop (no problems at all). When I try and configure my 2nd laptop through Ad-Hoc however, it once again totally doesnt work. Same as my PocketPC, I can ping 192.168.0.1, but thats it.

The Pretec and the Netgear both support Ad Hoc 802.11, but it just doesnt seem to work. Please provide me with your suggestions! Thanks!
